The second time around [Apr. 16th, 2008|10:04 am]

From time to time, we get invited to baby showers for couples who already have at least one child. Or we get invited to wedding showers for second or third time brides and grooms. How do you feel about this?

BTW - Don't confuse this with the actual wedding present or baby present. This is about the separate shower.

Poll #1172028 Shower Poll

How do you feel about baby showers for the second baby?

I think they are tacky or not proper ettiquette
0(0.0%)
I think it's a blatant present grab
0(0.0%)
They are okay if they didn't get one the first time
0(0.0%)
They are okay if it is a different gender so they need new stuff
0(0.0%)
They are okay if it has been so long since the first one that they gave away their stuff
0(0.0%)
If it is a close friend, it's great. Otherwise, I think it's weird.
0(0.0%)
It depends on if I knew them when they had the first one. I go to one shower per person.

Showers are always appropriate - every baby is worth celebrating
1(12.5%)
It is appropriate if it is small and toned down befitting that this was done once before

What would you suggest for a celebration of the birth (and life) of Arthur, other than reading/telling the stoires?

Poll #1104703 Christmas Party Poll

On average, how many Christmas parties do you attend a year?

To clarify, a Christmas party is a party (be it at your place of employment, your spouse's place of employment, a group your part of, or a friend's house (or your house)) that would not be thrown but for the fact that Christmas is coming. Don't count New Year's Eve or the birthday party of anyone born in December. Don't count Christmas dinner with your family.

If you host or get invited to parties that are centred around other religious holidays (like a Hanukkah party or even a secular "winter-themed" party) count those.

I'm curious to know what December is like for the average person.

Tailor [Sep. 27th, 2007|10:50 am]

Anyone know a good tailor in Ottawa?

I've used those Stitch-it places in malls before, but this time I have some complicated things like shortening a lined trenchcoat and hemmed curved sleeves on a jacket.

Housework Poll [Jul. 29th, 2007|04:09 pm]

I'm really interested in how often average people do various household chores. I really want to know what you actually do, not what you think is ideal or what in a perfect world you would do. (On cruise ships, they change your bedding daily and clean your bathroom twice a day - hard to achieve in the real world.)

mondaysabitch is using a set of my questions this week. http://community.livejournal.com/mondaysabitch/23861.html

mondaysabitch is like a Friday Five, but on Mondays instead of Fridays. It suits me better as I seem to have more time to answer random questions after the weekend than while I'm gearing up for it.
