I had my first dance class last night. Zelia is very good and I think I'm at the right level - some of it is too hard for me, but at least I'm being challenged to learn new things and improve.
Half way through class, in the middle of snake arms and shoulder shimmies, my shoulders really started to hurt. I don't know if it was because of the cold I have or because I haven't danced in a long time. (Or a combination thereof.) Then I started to watch the clock in a "How much longer until class is over?" kind of way. I hate when I do that. It's always a sign that I'm in the wrong place. I think it must be the cold since I've never clock-watched in middle Eastern dance before.
I'm trying to incorporate more exercise into my life, but the problem is that I hate most forms of exercise and always clock-watch in aerobics class. The only things I like to do are dance or walk on my treadmill while I watch TV. I feel guilty about that last one, since walking is the lowest form of exercise - it's what they recommend for the elderly and the seriously obese who can't do anything else. I feel like I should be doing something more athletic than just walking, but I haven't found anything I like better.
Zelia is planned to have a dance recital the Sunday of the Victoria Day weekend, so I want to see how much weight I can lose by then. Maybe I'll even finish off my bra top to match my blue pants.
I made it to bed by 11:00 last night. I slept from 11-2, 2-5, 5-6 and then slept through my alarm for another 45 minutes. So, I've had almost 8 hours of sleep, but it's been all in pieces since I keep waking up because I can't breathe and my throat is dry. Needless to say, I was 1 hour late today - unlike yesterday when I was actually 15 minutes early.
