Updates [Jun. 21st, 2004|11:04 pm]
I called Jocelyn and Julie. I have Jocelyn's permission to be late. It runs until 10:00. Julie's show starts at 6:00. I will be able to do both. I am going to do the same solo I did at Jauhara's. This means that I don't have to choreograph - I can just work on learning it and improving it.

I finished all the armour for my puppet. I am the Yusef of the puppetry world!

I went out for dinner with fairydarkfire Friday. Mexican food, great conversation, spending time with someone you haven't seen in a while. What more could you want from an evening.

I spent the weekend reading a book on spiritual disciplines. Two things came from it. One, I realized that I don't have any personal rituals/liturgies any more. I used to write my own and use them as a form of worship when I lived alone. I out-grew the ones I had and then I just got out of the habit. So, I wrote some more. I don't know how they'll work, because I haven't tried them yet. I may or may not eventually share some of this with Hedwig in our worship time together.

One thing the book challenged me on was fasting. Fasting in the spiritual sense - not just abstaining from food (although it could be food) - but fasting from something that controls you. So, today was a day of abstaining form TV for me. Tomorrow will be a day of abstaining from LJ. (Which is hard, because I'm so bored at work and we have such a fast connection.) I'll post about my experience on Wednesday.

Took my little munchkin to the park today with Grandpa. She played with a pail and shovel for the first time. We slept at Mom and Dad's last night. Tyr, mr_messy and I went to see Harry Potter.

I am not going to AMC anymore. Britannia was cheaper (2 tickets were 19.90 vs. 28.00) and it has a better selection of food. Why go anywhere else?

With the time I saved today by not watching TV, I have reduced the amount of email in my in-box from 70 to 35 messages. I also did a first run through of my dance. And I talked to a friend - to make sure that a mutual friend wasn't going to show up at something and make a fool out of himself. Maybe I should have a no-TV day more often.

I signed up for the FLYlady stuff. In 2 days, I got about 70 emails, but I could delete them all. We are still on her first 3 points: 1) Getting dressed every day, 2)making your bed every day, and 3) shining the kitchen sink. mr_messy doesn't always do #1. I never do #2. I want #3 so bad, but there are always too many dirty dishes in the sink. Once we get the basics under control, we can move on.

Haven't done any work on my play or my next Children's Institute assignment. mr_messy had to put together the quarterly newsletter this weekend, and I wrote 3 pieces for it. That occupied all my writing time and energy. (If anyone actually wants to read what I wrote, let me know.)

yay for scheduling accomplishments!

my sis says flylady is waaaay too much to accomplish with 4 kids and piano students and blablabla. she says some of her ideas are okay, but mostly, just unreasonable. But I know a lot of people swear by her....

It's a Yahoo group, so I turned the email status from "individual emails" to "no emails." She sends you three initial emails and you aren't even supposed to read #2 until you do #1 every day (and likewise, you shouldn't read #3 until 2 is a part of your routine.) So, until I work my way through those 3 emails, why do I need her 15 reminders a day?

As I told Molly, I turned the status to "no emails." Until I integrate her beginner email #1 (and then #2 and #3) into my routine, I don't need her 15 reminders a day.

I can see how this will be something I turn on and off as I think I need it.

And I had fun on Friday too.

And I see you have a new icon!!
