Finally, after 5 different trips to fabric stores to get samples, I found something that matches the dining room.|
I went to C+M Textiles. Wilhelm showed me some drapery fabrics and I got two samples. Then I went to the section of the store where they have the "special occasion" fabrics to look for dance costume material. While I was chatting with the salesgirl I mentioned knowing Wilhelm and my quest for drapery fabrics. She tipped me off that they had some silk that while not "drapery fabric", is heavy enough that people make curtains out of it all the time. It came in so many pretty colours - so I got samples of 3 colours to take home.
And one of the silks works so well with the room. So, I will have to measure the windows and go back and order my curtains. And the best thing - the fabric is only $17/m, and not the $40, $50, or $95 a meter of the other fabrics I've sampled.
When Wilhelm was leaving, I saw him carrying a piece of cake, so I figured it was one of the sales staff's birthday. When I was chatting with the salesgirl, she mentioned that since I knew him, I probably knew it was his birthday. I didn't. So, Happy Birthday, Wilhem.
